The Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme is ending March 2021

FACTCO have been working together with rural communities using the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme – which is now ending March 1st, 2021

What happens now the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme is ending?

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), who provide the funding for the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme announced that the funding as it currently standis coming to an end this March. This means that the certain projects that FACTCO are working on need residents and businesses signed up before this date to secure the funding to cover the costs of a full-fibre network installation to their community.

Which projects will be affected by this?

When we say affected we mean that there is now a tighter deadline to get residents and businesses signed up to the scheme. Other projects are still going ahead but the follow installations need their communities signed up to prevent further delays…

We need the community to sign up to the scheme for us to begin individual applications for your Gigabit Broadband Voucher. Each project has a set number of vouchers allocated for this for us, the supplier to receive the necessary funding which enables the free installation. If the community signs up to a voucher before March 2021 the install will be covered by the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme.

How much will it cost for an installation if I miss the funding?

At this stage if you miss the funding and want to join the network after the installation has happened then there will be a charge to join the network. At this point we do not have an exact cost as this will depend on the project and where your premises are from the network but the Gigabit Broadband Voucher is anything up to the value of £1500 for homes and up to £3500 for a business.

What if I’m currently in a contract?

Whatever your situation is with your current broadband contract, FACTCO will be able to advise and offer a solution. Making sure you do not miss out on joining the network and avoid any expensive installation fees.
