Meet Ian Finlay, the Geordie of FACTCO who works across Northumberland, supporting communities with their connectivity. Ian Joined FACTCO in 2018 when the business was mainly supporting business centres in the North East, as the funding evolved so did Ian’s role. He now works closely with Northumberland County Council’s Team iNorthumberland, supporting the rural communities of Northumberland. It’s great to have a local member of the team in the area, who understands the communities we’re supporting who can provide our experts with that extra level of insight into the area. So, in the spirit of introducing Ian officially to the Northumberland community, we thought we’d ask him a couple of questions…
What are you enjoying most about the role of Community Manager?
It’s great to get the chance to support the communities where I live and provide them with the necessary support that they need to improve their connectivity. There hasn’t been a time like now where people have realised how important it is to have a reliable and secure broadband connection in your home, especially those in rural areas.
What do you think will be the biggest challenge?
It’s an extremely competitive space and working for an alternative broadband provider like FACTCO comes with its challenges of educating our customers about the services we provide and why the bigger brands are unable to support them as we can. I enjoy a challenge, coming from a sales background myself and have been working in telecoms for 19 years. It’s great to be able to offer a solution that people really benefit from and absolutely need.
