How Will Full Fibre Broadband in My Area Benefit Me?

Full fibre, FTTP or ultrafast, it is the future of broadband connectivity and it is coming to areas all over the UK… But what makes a full fibre network so desirable and why is it worth the wait? Improved infrastructure  A solution that’s long lasting and a better switch for the environment. It’s all in the wires. For traditional broadband connections, copper wiring runs straight from an exchange directly to your home. Copper wiring does have some perks, with it being a great receiver of phone calls. But when considering it for sending and receiving data, issues can occur. Copper wirings signal strength can deter over time due to the length of wiring between your home and exchange. With the demands of the internet ever changing, it is important you have a network can meet modern day needs. Although copper is completely suitable for simple voice signal, it has limited bandwidth – fibre provides harmonised performance of 10 Gbps and beyond. Fibre links provide over 1,000 times as much bandwidth as copper and can travel more than 100 times further as well. With the introduction of Fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) this was a step in the right direction and has been integrated in the last decade. The incorporation of fibre cabling saw cable being ran from the exchange to the cabinet through fibre. This significantly improved signal strength and bandwidth however still used copper wiring from the cabinet to house. But now, full fibre ensures a fibre connection all the way to your home. That means a more robust, reliable connection. Speed  A connection using both fibre and copper (FTTC) can reach speeds of up to about 66Mbps. But a full fibre connection (FTTP) with no copper, can offer much faster average speeds of one gigabit per second (GBPS) That’s 1000 Mbps! Fibre has faster upload and download speeds than ADSL and will always be a better choice for larger families, households that have multiple devices connected, online gamers, TV and music streamers or a remote worker. Find out if your eligible  We’re one of the UK’s leading registered suppliers, we’ve connected over 900 businesses and their surrounding communities. FACTCO bridges the gap in digital inclusion, helping rural communities keep up with the advancements of urban living. Full fibre projects are the first steps in building a sustainable network. These are essential for the long-term development of the area. We use the Rural Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme (RGV) provided by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS). The scheme allows you to upgrade to a full fibre network at no risk or cost to you. For more information on any of our services call  0333 305 7560  to talk to a member of our team or by visiting the contact us page.
