Can my business apply to the Rural Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme?

The Rural Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme (RGV) has been created to support the rural and remote areas of the UK. Much like the original Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme the RGV is available to SME’s and the surrounding remote communities.

Recent events have highlighted how important connectivity is for homes and businesses and with 1 in 10 rural English and welsh properties don’t have a superfast broadband option yet  it is clear why the scheme has been developed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport. So how does the scheme work?

How can my business apply to the Rural Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme?

Firstly, you could start by checking your postcode. This can be done by filling in a short form and we can inform you if you’re eligible – Check if you can apply today

Other criteria are:

  1. Never received funding for gigabit connectivity before
  2. If your current connection is less than 100Mbps capable speeds
  3. If the scheme will enable you to double your speeds with a minimum of 30Mbps and be gigabit capable
  4. Up to 249 employees (in total in the organisation) and turnover no greater than €50m per annum, and/or
  5. A balance sheet of no more than €43m
  6. You will also have to self-certify that you have received less than €200k in public grants in the last 3 years
  7. You will be asked to provide evidence of your status as a SME or sole trader.

What do you need to do next?

If you think you are eligible to receive support from the Rural Gigabit Voucher Scheme, companies like us at FACTCO are a registered supplier of the scheme and can provide you with support when applying for funding and managing every stage of the network installation.

A registered supplier connects you (the business) with the funding and provides you with the technical support you need to allow you to gain access to a free Full-Fibre network.

How does the funding work?

Watch the video – How the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme works with FACTCO

The funding can be used as a single application or as what we call a Community Fibre Project, this is where a resident, business or a combination of the two, each apply for a Rural Gigabit Broadband Voucher to pool together the funding that will allow you to collectively cover the costs of a wider network.

Rural Gigabit Broadband Vouchers can be up to the value of up to £3500 for businesses and up to £1500 for residents. This is great news as the average cost of a full-fibre network installation is £50,000.

FACTCO will pay forward for all the equipment, skilled labour and project management so the entire project is never a risk taken by you. Once the network is live, working, tested and audited by the government the funds will then be reimbursed – enabling us to provide you with the service and become your new ISP.

Wondering what’s the catch? There isn’t one! Let FACTCO support you with upgrading your connectivity and get in touch with the team today – 0333 305 7560 – hello@factco.uk
